Hand and Flag Signals

Signals regulate traffic flow and must be obeyed. Signals given by people consists of hand signals given by people such as traffic officers and flag signals given by road construction workers

Hand signals given by traffic officers regulate the traffic. These signals supersede those of other signs, road markings and the general rules of the road. Flag signals given by road construction workers regulate traffic around construction sites.

Hand Signals

Traffic officers are typically dressed in blue uniforms and give the following hand signals

Stop hand signal for traffic approaching from the front

Stop and remain stationary until signalled to proceed

 

Stop hand signal for traffic approaching from behind the officer

 

 

Stop hand signal for traffic approaching from the front and the behind of the officer

Flag Signals

Flag signals regulate the traffic near road construction sites and is controlled by construction workers.
